Monocene is an indie and alternative rock band formed in the winter of 2023. The band consists of Joerg Grote (vocals, guitar), Igor Zimic (bass, backing vocals), and Stjepan Vukušić (drums), all experienced musicians in their 30s and 40s. With a sound influenced by the grunge and alternative rock scenes of the late 90s and early 2000s, monocene brings a fresh perspective to the genre with their introspective lyrics and dynamic musical compositions.
A Brief History
Monocene's journey began when Joerg Grote, an experienced singer and guitarist, met Igor Zimic while searching for local musicians to jam with. Their musical synergy was undeniable, and soon after, they were joined by drummer Stjepan Vukušić, who, like Igor, has Croatian roots and grew up in Zagreb. Together, they formed monocene, drawing inspiration from their shared love of grunge and alternative bands from the 90s and 2000s, as well as their extensive backgrounds in various musical projects and cover bands.
